|
|
We were talking about the Sheriff's track event today and I figured I'd start to talk it up a bit now. The event is on our events calendar. I think scoutman is running the show now that LJ is deployed (and hopefully staying safe!). With the event being on a Sunday my chances of going have increased to about 99.9%...you just never know what's going to happen. Anyway, I figure the NE Oklahoma members can caravan to OKC that morning. We'll establish a meeting time and place soon.
The only thing I know about this is that it is great, cheap fun. If you own a G or a Z you owe it to your car to put it on a track!
Scoutman, do you have information on this yet? Thanks in advance.

As of now we have a STRONG interest from four G35 Coupes, 2 G35 Sedans, and one Viper SRT10.....all in the Tulsa area. We're going to have a nice caravan down to OKC
Just one note though. A guy I work with is in the Tulsa Vette Set and they were driving from OKC to Tulsa this past weekend, all doing 90ish. They were spotted by the HIPO airplane and OHP eventually shut down the entire east bound lanes unitl their caravan made it to the road block. Each of the cars in their caravan were given $200 plus tickets. If you don't remember, the state doubled speeding tickets a few months ago. |

I-44 is crazy. A friend of mine was pulled over a while back. Conversation went like this,
OHP Officer: "nice day outside huh"
Friend: "yes sir"
OHP Officer: "on nice days like this we have airplanes"
not fair! Even the best radar detector can't warn you of that one. |

Tell me more about this event. I go up to Hallet about once a month. Is it run similar to their High Speed Touring days with groups of cars all on the track at the same time?
There they stagger the start, spacing the cars out but eventually the faster cars catch up with the slower cars and you are only allowed to pass on the straights.
Or is Autocross or Solo?
Either way I’ll be there, I just want to know more. |

Tell us about your car! We were at Hallett last August and had a great time.
here's a video of one Sheriff's track events last year, it's halfway down the thread. Hopefully roast will join us this year. Scoutman is going to have to answer your other questions, this will be my first Sheriff's event. I am assuming it's similar to Hallett.....only a few cars at a time, spaced out, no passing in turns. I don't think the Sheriff's department has a use for a transponder system though
my350z.com/forum/upcoming-events/370475-okc-okzcc-open-track-day-8am.html
Also, chalk up another G35 Coupe from the OKC area that is in. That's 5 G35 Coupes, 2 G35 Sedan's, and a Viper SRT-10 so far |

Well hopefully you all will forgive me but I don't own a Z car although I greatly respect them. I found out about this event on okmini.com. I have been lusting after the new 370Z! I own an 08 MCS and also a reproduction Cobra, hence the name Okiesnake.
Thanks for the link that shows the youtube video of one of last year's events. It looks like great fun! I am from Lawton and I hope you don't mind if I'll spead the word to some of my fellow driving enthusist friends.
Here is a link to a youtube video I did at Hallet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDqSkcMxEEM

This is a great event at a heck of a price. I followed this last year via your website and that is a tremendous deal on the price.
The track is shorter than Hallett but bigger than an indoor go kart track and cheaper too!!
This is a great way to learn the limitations of your car and, maybe more importantly, you as a driver.
Enjoy The Ride!! |

Wow Nice looking Cobra (we all know that the replicas are usually better performers than the originals...if only they were worth $2 million )
My stable has a Mini and a 350Z. You are more than welcome to join us and spread the word. We need to do everything we can to keep autosports kicking during this economic storm. |

we set up a cross between a road course and autocross ,using the roadcourse you see with cones to either slow down top speeds and make other areas more exciting(adding chicanes and turns where their are none)we also run for 10 mins at a time with between 4 and 6 cars on track at a time .also with any event we also do our own police type work ,we work corners, announce and flag w saftey our first and main concern .this is more like a training run with several hallett and other track racers around

That is one beautiful Cobra! Tell you what, you drive the Mini and I'll drive the Cobra .
You are more than welcome to come along. I honestly can't believe how much interest we have received this early....but like Lt. Dan said, the price is too good to pass up. Also, for us Tulsa guys, the track is on the NE side of OKC. We won't have to drive an hour through city traffic to get there. |
